I must say that I was encouraged by last week’s response to
the blog. Several of you joined the many others that are faithful to give
towards the missionary women and this ministry. Thank you sooooo much. We only
have 16 more women to sponsor. Keep praying on behalf of the women.
Also, many of you sent in comments about the blog. I suspect
it reminded all of us that His timing is perfect and the power of believing
God. I would like to speak to that blog a little bit more this week…
Some of your comments included thoughts about how God was
already working on behalf of the prayer the little girl prayed. Others wrote about
God’s timing being perfect. But, just for a few moments today I would like for
us to consider the faith of the little girl and the doctor. See I believe the
little girl prayed that prayer by simple, childlike faith. I believe that is
the same faith James is talking about in James 1:5-8 when he is telling us if anyone one
lacks wisdom…
James 1:5-8 (ESV)
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

I suspect where our faith gets in trouble is at the level of
verse 6, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting.” You know the little girl
flat out believed with no doubting that God would answer her prayer. It was settled in her heart. But to be honest
with you ……there is something that separates us over time from that kind of
childlike faith. It’s called, “life experiences”. Life can erode away our faith
if we allow it to.
Things that can erode our faith away:
- Loss of a spouse
- Loss of a child
- Divorce
- Illness and long term health issues
- Financial loss and strains
- Hurts by others
- Church splits
- Issues in the body of Christ
- Leaders falling
- Disappointments
- Loss of a business
- Loss of a job
- Loss of a home
- Family issues
That precious little girl in the story last week didn’t have
enough life experience yet to cause her to live by sight instead of by faith.
Many times in our walk with Christ I suspect we best step back and reevaluate
our vision. Have we allowed our life circumstance to drag us into the rut of
unbelief? If so, “Look Up”! Regain that heavenly sight (vision) by the
discipline of being in His Word and obeying His Word. It is the only way to
regain our childlike faith.
Romans
10:17 (ESV)
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Love you all,
His,
Vickie
