First let me start with a disclaimer... This is not about politics! So now that we have settled that issue, I would ask you to give some healthy consideration to what I am about to share.
Thursday morning when I got out of bed I had taken no more than two steps when out of nowhere an image of Donald Trump floated through my mind. Yes, it was a scary thought for so early in the morning. Ha Ha Ha Ha. Almost as quickly, his statement, "I'm building a wall" came through my mind. Why I am having these kinds of thoughts at 5:30 in the morning, I don't know. Then the following flooded my mind...
Donald Trump does not want to build a wall to keep Mexicans out of America and/or to keep Americans out of Mexico. He wants to build the wall to ensure people will enter into our country the only legal way, and take the appropriate steps to become legal citizens of the U.S. of America if they so desire … at which time they have all the privileges and rights of citizenship. At that point, my thoughts shifted to a Spiritual parallel regarding Donald Trump’s wall.
Bible believing Christians are often accused of building walls, because we believe there is only one way to heaven and it is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We believe it because God's Word tells us that over and over (See verses below). You don't get to enter heaven by good works, by going to church, by reading your Bible, by praying every day, giving money to churches and many other things someone might believe are ways to heaven. This becomes a wall to many people when we reiterate that God’s Word tells us that we enter heaven through salvation, and salvation is through Jesus Christ the Son of God, alone. We aren’t putting up walls. We are standing steadfast on God’s Word because we want our family members, relatives, friends, peers, and the world to know that God’s Word tells us that He would have it that all men be saved. But, you have to come according to His Word. You can’t go over, under, or around. You have to come the only way according to His Word and Truths, if you are going to have citizenship in heaven.
To all of the missionaries on the frontlines internationally, nationally, statewide, and locally do not let the shouts of the crowd as they condemn, discourage, lie, and attack your faith keep you from standing strong on the truth and principals of God’s infallible Word. Our voices may be the very ones God uses to someday bring those voices to the truth that “No man comes to the Father (in Heaven) except through Jesus Christ His Son.”

Update on the Conferences.....
Southeast Asia is full with a wait list started and we have another “M” sponsored! So only 23 more women to sponsor! Thank you all so much as you continue to give and pray on behalf of these ladies. Pray for us as we will be booking our flights this Friday for the Southeast Asia trip. We are in trying times and we are very aware of that as we prepare to go encourage those on the frontlines. Please pray that God will give us favor as we prepare to go.
Registration for Guanajuato, Mexico opened two weeks ago. We still have plenty of room. So, pay it forward if you have been a part of a Pure Joy International Conference and let women/families that are serving internationally in Mexico and surrounding countries know about this opportunity for women.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
Have you ever had a promise from God? I’m being personal right now. I mean has God through the power of the Holy Spirit, Prayer, His Word, and the counsel of a godly man or woman spoken to you so clearly regarding an issue you have been dealing with that the peace of Christ has flooded your soul? And while you are caught right smack dab in the middle of a raging storm, your hope in His peace and promised faithfulness keeps you from wavering. Yes, you may be tattered and torn like a flag that has weathered many storms and winds but you stand firm because of His peace and promised faithfulness. If so, Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! That kind of peace cannot be moved by circumstances, words of others and or lies from the enemy. Instead it increases our faith, moves us to more dependence on Him, and humbles our hearts to repentance that we may extend more grace to others.
Recently, I sent this to a precious friend from Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening Devotional series. May it encourage you if you are in need of encouragement today.
You may fear that the Lord has passed you by, but it is not so: he who counts the stars, and calls them by their names, is in no danger of forgetting his own children. He knows your case as thoroughly as if you were the only creature he ever made, or the only saint he ever loved. Approach him and be at peace. Morning and Evening (Evening Feb. 24)
Southeast Asia is a couple of missionaries short of 50, so please remind your friends we still have a couple of openings. Also, we continue to have 25 missionary women sponsored and need 25 more covered.

Please continue to pray for the teams going, giving, gifting, and praying. Remember to designate which trip you are giving towards when you give. Southeast Asia almost full and Mexico Registration Opens Next Week and YOU!
Well, things
are beginning to buzz around here. We only have 6 slots open for Southeast Asia,
then we go to waiting list. We are hearing from the ladies that are registered
and there is a lot of excitement about our upcoming time together. We are
excited to be in that part of the world as we have been close several times but
not in this particular area. We are believing awesome things for these ladies
and a true time of refreshing. Please continue to pray for the team and the
ladies that will be coming. We still have 26 missionary women that need
sponsorships. Please continue to see if God is speaking to your heart to give
the missionary women the opportunity to come.
Also, we
will be opening registration for Guanajuato City, Guanajuato Mexico next week.
That places this ministry in a position to experience an opportunity to walk by
faith in an incredible way. We believe that God has positioned us and prepared
us to do 2 conferences in the Fall each year and 2 conferences in the Spring
each year. We continue to believe with all our hearts that this is God’s
ministry and HE will make a way for all the details of going, gifting, giving
and prayer to happen as we live by faith not by sight. Many would say and DO say,
how much longer can you go? The world is crazy, the economy is bad, danger
lurks everywhere in foreign countries. Those are true statements, the world is
crazy, the economy is bad, danger does lurk everywhere in foreign countries and
stateside. But our God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He tells us
to take the Good News to the lost near and far. And as long as we have
missionary families/women taking the Good News of the gospel to the lost in all
parts of this world we will continue to be obedient to the vision God has given
us to help keep our missionary families/women on the field of service God has
called them to.
So what does
this mean to you as we increase our opportunities on the field? It means pray
like you have never prayed before for this ministry. Pray for the teams and the
missionaries we will minister to. It means go! Be a member of one of the teams
going to different parts of the world to minister to our frontline soldiers. It
means pray about your giving as never before. Be committed to giving monthly or
to a particular trip. Pray about being an individual or church that makes gifts
for the conference for the missionary women. We have several churches that
partner with us to make gifts. Please know that our staff, advisors and board
go, give, gift and pray for this ministry. I am thankful they model every
aspect of what we believe God has put on our hearts to ask of you.
Please
remember to designate where you want your money to go: general fund, Southeast
Asia, and/or Mexico. Some of you just tell us to put it where it is needed.
Thank you for that. We most often, if not all the time, put undesignated funds
towards missionary sponsorship.

Only 12 positions left before going to waiting list and Shelter from the storms....
We have only 12 positions open before going to our waiting list
status for Southeast Asia. Please continue to get the word out. Just received a
word from some ladies in China that are hearing about the conference from
others. Continue to pray that our Father will have exactly who He has purposed
to be there for this time and season. We also have had two more missionary
women sponsored in the past week, so we are up to 24 ladies sponsored with only
26 to go (believing we will have a full 50 there, smile). Thank you to all of
you who continue to be faithful givers to His ministry on behalf of our
missionary families/missionaries on the front lines. It is, as you can imagine,
very much heating up around the world to be serving our God. And we must all
keep the faith no matter what part of the continent we serve from.
As I write the blog today it is pouring down rain outside. In fact, it is the kind of rain that whether you have an umbrella or not it makes no difference; you are going to get wet. Later on it is supposed to get even worse out with possible hail and tornadoes, unless of course it misses us completely. Know what you want on these kind of days? A place that is inviting, that keeps you from elements of the storm, that allows you to rest until you are ready to weather the storm again and/or it has passed.
You know, I am having one of those kind of days spiritually. It is raining in my heart, it is possible that it could get worse before getting better and I have already missed the chance that it will miss me completely. (smile) But, by “faith I have fled to God for refuge.” Not a friend, not a devotional, and honestly not even my Bible but the God of the Word. God Almighty, Sovereign God, All-knowing God, All powerful God, All present God full of Grace and Mercy, the One and Only True God. And do not misunderstand me here. I did not run to my Bible for a word, because I have grown to know, through reading my Bible daily, the Author of the Word. He has instructed me by His word to run to Him. I think we can get so intent on being in the Word, memorizing the Word, sharing the Word, striving to live life according to the instruction of the Word that we forget to really be personal with the Author of the book. Listen girls, that Author is real, alive, and cares for you and me. HE KNOWS and He is just waiting for us to run through the book to HIM. The Word empowered by the Holy Spirit is the stairway to HIM.

Excitement Grows and Be of Good Courage.....
We have had registration open now for nearly 3 weeks for Southeast Asia. We have 35 women registered with only 15 more positions open before we go to our waiting list sign up. Just shows you the need that is out there to minister to our frontline workers to help keep them on the front lines. We also already have 22 women sponsored which means we only have 28 left to sponsor for this trip. If God is moving on your heart to give, please be obedient as He leads. Thank you for those of you who have already poured into this trip financially and those who will.
We have another team member that we picked up this last week as well. Please pray for the team to continue to come together. Yes, we could leave the country with the ladies we have now and minister to the women in Southeast Asia. However, I just happen to believe there are several more of you out there who are supposed to be on this team. So please be sensitive to the Father on this issue, too.
This morning in my quiet time as I sat beside the lake reading 2 Samuel 10:1-19 I couldn’t help but think, I know so many people who feel like Joab felt in the battle David had sent him into with the Ammonites and Syrians. This battle was provoked by King Hanun of the Ammonites when he listened to poor counsel. You must read 2 Samuel 10:1-19 to get the full picture.
For our purposes today I want to pick up the story in 2 Samuel 10:9-14
2 Samuel 10:9-14 (ESV)
9 When Joab saw that the battle was set against him both in front and in the rear, he chose some of the best men of Israel and arrayed them against the Syrians. 10 The rest of his men he put in the charge of Abishai his brother, and he arrayed them against the Ammonites. 11 And he said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you shall help me, but if the Ammonites are too strong for you, then I will come and help you. 12 Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God, and may the LORD do what seems good to him.” 13 So Joab and the people who were with him drew near to battle against the Syrians, and they fled before him. 14 And when the Ammonites saw that the Syrians fled, they likewise fled before Abishai and entered the city. Then Joab returned from fighting against the Ammonites and came to Jerusalem.
Do you feel like the battle has been set against you in the front and in the rear? Feel like you are hemmed in and there doesn’t appear to be a way out? I love Joab’s strategy…he might as well have said, we are in this together brother! If you need help I’ll come to you. If I need help you come to me. Can I ask you something? Do you need help in your circumstances right now? Have you asked for help? Made plans for it? And are you aware if a sister or brother in Christ around you who needs help? Are you extending yourself to them?
And then the verse... Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God, and may the LORD do what seems good to him. I love this too, because it simply says.... Do not be deterred no matter the circumstances; let us fight for what God has given us families, neighbors, friends, for God’s people everywhere and trust God to act on His behalf. And I also love it that Joab says and may the LORD do what seems good to him. When is the last time in the middle of your circumstance did you just say to God, LORD do what seems good to you?

Southeast Asia and a Good Laugh.....
Well, registration opened up last week for Southeast Asia and we already have 17 ladies signed up. Please continue to let your friends who live in Southeast Asia and the surrounding areas know about the conference. If they have questions they contact me at vickie@purejoyinternational.org. Please begin to pray alongside us for support for the M’s that will be attending this conference at no cost to themselves beyond travel. As always, we thank you in advance as we watch God move on behalf of His ministry.
My 3 yr. old great nephew spent last weekend with my mom, sister, and me. He commonly spends the weekends with us because his mom has to work. He has a lot of fun covering the distance between our mom’s house and my sister’s house on his little John Deere tractor as I tag along with him on the John Deere riding mower. It is quite the sight. Usually, before the day is over he has made his rounds through the neighborhood to visit all the neighbors, received his favorite Kit Kat candy from one of the neighbors, stopped at every stream and ditch possible to throw rocks and pretend to fish, sit on one of our neighbor’s John Deere collection of old tractors, etc., etc. Translated it makes for a long day for this older woman (ha,ha,ha,ha,ha) by the time bath and bed times roll around. Of course, I am ready for bed long before his body wants to shut down. Our usual routine is that I lay down with him, tell a few stories that recall our activity of the day, with flare of course! Ha,ha,ha,ha Then a couple of rounds of Jack and the Bean Stalk, David and Goliath, and Samson for good measure. Then theatrically he goes to sleep and I get up and go to my bed.
Well, one-night last weekend after we had finished our usual series of stories I rolled over on my stomach as I noticed he was playing with his little flashlight from one of our retreats. (Thanks, Deb and Carl). Anyway, I knew his pattern was to play a few minutes with the flashlight then turn it off and go to sleep. So, I just laid there half awake and half in a coma. (smile) All of a sudden, he crawled up on my back and leaned down as close to my ear as he could and said with the exact same inflection as Elsa from the movie Frozen, “You want to build a snowman?” Even as I write these words today, I am absolutely laughing out loud!
I pray those of you out there parenting the little ones all the way through the tweens (11-13) to teens (14-18) that you are able to capture some of these same unpredictable random moments of pure laughter with and at your kids. It may be the only thing that helps us to allow them to reach adulthood.
Would love to hear from some of you and your laughable moments with your children and extended family. We can all use a bit of laughter in our lives weekly.

Are You In A Great Storm.......
Matthew 8:24-25
And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing!" He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm.
Mark 4:37-38
And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Luke 8:23-25
But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. And He said to them, “Where is your Faith?”
Many messages have been preached over theses verses in centuries past. So don’t venture to think I am about to have some new revelation from the Holy Spirit of God on these verses. I simply want to remind myself and any of you that need the reminder and are in the middle of a storm crying out ......
“Save us, Lord; we are (I am) perishing!” “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?”
“Teacher, do You not care that we are (I am) perishing?” “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
“Master, Master, we are (I am) perishing!” “Where is your Faith?”
....... He hears if you are calling His Name!!! And in His perfect timing He will calm the storms of our hearts whatever they are! ......Exercise that “Faith” even if you don’t feel like it!!!

And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep. And they came to Him and woke Him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing!" He said to them, “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?” Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and it became perfectly calm.
Mark 4:37-38
And there arose a fierce gale of wind, and the waves were breaking over the boat so much that the boat was already filling up. Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, "Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?" And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
Luke 8:23-25
But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they began to be swamped and to be in danger. They came to Jesus and woke Him up, saying, "Master, Master, we are perishing!" And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. And He said to them, “Where is your Faith?”
Many messages have been preached over theses verses in centuries past. So don’t venture to think I am about to have some new revelation from the Holy Spirit of God on these verses. I simply want to remind myself and any of you that need the reminder and are in the middle of a storm crying out ......
“Save us, Lord; we are (I am) perishing!” “Why are you afraid, you men of little faith?”
“Teacher, do You not care that we are (I am) perishing?” “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
“Master, Master, we are (I am) perishing!” “Where is your Faith?”
....... He hears if you are calling His Name!!! And in His perfect timing He will calm the storms of our hearts whatever they are! ......Exercise that “Faith” even if you don’t feel like it!!!
